Respect Judo: promoting well-being and self-esteem
This course draws on the connections of improved mental health, increased confidence and self-esteem that can be gained from the study and training of basic judo moves.
Combining group work with the learning and development of judo skills, Respect Judo is a six-week programme designed and funded specifically for people who are experiencing difficulties with self-esteem, confidence, anxiety and other difficulties that are related to their emotional wellbeing.
What is the Recovery College?
DISCOVER: Recovery College is led by South West Yorkshire Partnership Trust and supported by Kirklees Council. We work in partnership with volunteers and other supporting organisations to develop and run a range of workshops and courses which promote well-being and good mental health.
We focus on education, building people’s skills and knowledge and should not be seen as therapy or a clinical intervention.
Our sessions have been designed and are run by people with personal experience of maintaining their own emotional wellbeing and professionals that work with them.
