Event description

About this Event

From the 10th October 2019 Gloucestershire will be moving away from the yellow DNAR sticker and instead using the ReSPECT (Recommended Summary Plan for Emergency Care and Treatment) form to record adult patients preferences for future care and CPR recommendations.

  • This one form and the decisions recorded will be transferrable across all clinical settings and recognised by all organisations.
  • ReSPECT is included in this year's Primary Care Offer.
  • To be ReSPECT ready all GP practices will need to ensure all clinical staff have received training on how to use the form in an emergency and depending on role, how to fill out a ReSPECT form. Dr Michelle Doidge and Dr Emma Husbands will be holding training evenings throughout September 2019.
  • Practices are encouraged to nominate an individual(s), preferably your ReSPECT lead, to attend the face to face training who can then cascade training to all clinical staff.
  • Presentations and resources to support staff training will be made available on G-Care.

Reminder: Practices need an EOL QI project for this years QOF. ‘100% of clinical staff ReSPECT trained’ could be your QI project! https://g-care.glos.nhs.uk/uploads/files/EOL%20QOF%20QI%20guide.pdf

Training will include -

  • Background to ReSPECT and DNAR discussion principles
  • How is ReSPECT different to what we do now?
  • Who is ReSPECT for?
  • Roll-out plan for Gloucestershire
  • How to complete the ReSPECT form sections
  • How to use a ReSPECT form in an Emergency
  • How to record a ReSPECT form so it is visible across all healthcare settings
  • Questions and Answers
