Event description

Responsible Officers require regular updates of changes in policies coming from NHS-E and GMC.

Updates from regular RO network meetings are usually the only opportunity to be informed of these changes, however, it is not always possible to attend all these meetings. Although these regular network meetings are useful for updates and networking, many of the complex issues that many Responsible Officers face are rarely discussed.

All Responsible Officers and Medical Directors from Designated Bodies require to attend Responsible Officer Training, however, there is no refresher training offered.

MEDSU clinical governance has been recognised by NHS-E and the GMC for good practice policies. We have been asked at a few High-Level Responsible Officer Meetings in 2018 to consider sharing our good practice policies with other organisations in NHS-E and in the independent sector. Therefore, we are launching a quarterly webinar meeting for all Responsible Officers free of charge.

Topics to be considered for presentation in 2019:

1. Process for dealing with doctor's who have had complaints against them.

2. Process for dealing with doctor's not engaging in appraisals and revalidation.

3. Process for when to defer an appraisal and or revalidation.

4. How to deal with difficult revalidation when the portfolio is not ideal?

5. How to manage doctors connected to DB working through another agency.

Specific topics per webinar will be confirmed shortly.
