Description

Responsible solutions to Europe's housing and infrastructure challenges? This will be the focus of the 2016 Concrete Dialogue 2016 debate. Identifying what the challenges really are and how the construction value chain, banks and policymakers can turn potential solutions into reality.

European citizens, particularly those in major cities, are facing an ever growing number of urban challenges. The increase in intra-EU migration, with people moving from rural areas to urban environments, and from one Member State to another where the opportunities for employment are greater, is putting a great deal of pressure on both housing and infrastructure. Responsible, affordable, energy efficient, comfortable: society is evolving and construction must keep up the pace to ensure we are meeting people’s needs.  Against this background, Concrete Dialogue 2016 will bring together stakeholders with first hand knowledge of the problems which Europe's citizens are facing in terms of access to affordable housing, heating and energy costs and infrastructure.  Furthermore, all actors in the construction value chain, banks, policymakers and think tanks will be invited to reflect upon how these challenges can be tackled.  Key questions include:

  • How can we collaborate to help solve Europe’s housing and infrastructure challenges?
  • How do we ensure affordable and energy efficient solutions for future construction?
  • Rebuild or Upgrade What are the trade-offs when addressing Europe’s housing deficit?
