Event description

Description

The European Court of Justice (ECJ) Ruling from 25 July assigns plants resulting from new mutagenesis methods to GMO legislation. Consequently, Europe risks to lack behind compared to other parts of the world where these innovations can be used without overdue regulatory burden.

As plant breeding innovation is the basis for a sustainable and competitive agri-food chain, this ruling raises quite some concerns within the scientific community and amongst breeders, farmers and other partners of the agri-food value chain.

We would therefore like to discuss with you about the the ECJ ruling and its consequences and to create and discuss policy options for next steps.
