An Art Therapy based restorative session to maintain resilience, reflect and connect
About this event
The Jonathan Upshall Foundation is delighted to welcome our guest facilitator Nina Ramsay. Nina is very kindly offering her time for free, and ReCoCo generously offer the venue for free, so all of the proceeds from ticket sales go to fund grants for private counselling and psychotherapy for adults in Gateshead and Newcastle who couldn't otherwise access therapy.
"Hi everyone, I'm Nina Ramsay, a qualified Art Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor. I also facilitate experiential cpd workshops, Restorative Supervision and hold a number of other roles outside of but linked to the therapy world. For more information about me, please check out my Facebook business page: https://www.facebook.com/Nina-Ramsay-Art-Psychotherapist-Clinical-Supervisor-106693818513790
Self-care is one of my passions and it felt really relevant after attending the recent Compassion Fatigue training through the Jonathan Upshall Foundation, to build on the discussions held and provide a space for those in the helping professions to dedicate some time for themselves.
In previous organisations I have worked for, I have run Art Therapy based Restorative groups to help staff teams maintain resilience, reflect on the impact of the work on themselves and to reconnect with colleagues, all whilst playing with the art/creative materials provided. The space is bookended with some brief mindfulness exercises and the main parameter around the space is to not discuss work in any great depth. There is no emphasis placed on creative ability or how you want to engage; it is purely a dedicated space to be yourself and express yourself in ways that help you to feel more connected with you and those around you.
The group is limited to 15 people, is open to anyone interested in self-care and will start promptly at 6:30pm, but arrival from 6:15pm is encouraged to get yourself settled and help yourself to refreshments provided. Feel free to bring a sandwich if biscuits won't be enough to keep you going 😀
If you are likely to arrive late, please be aware the group starts with a mindfulness activity, so please be patient and only buzz once if we can't answer the door straight away, to reduce any disruption for other participants."
The location is ReCoCo (Recovery College Collective), 4th Floor, 1 Carliol Square, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, NE1 6UF. Access via lift or stairs. A short walk from Manors multistory carpark and Manors Metro station.
Open to everyone working in the helping and caring professions, and anyone else who is interested.
Cancellation policy: We are unable to refund tickets cancelled less than one week before the event.
