About this event

Health • Yoga

We will take our cue from Mother Nature as she starts to release and let go, ready to turn inwards ahead of the winter. Heading into the autumn and winter is the perfect opportunity for us to take time to stop, to nourish and replenish ourselves.

Please join me for this yin yoga session with myofascial massage release, to teach you the art of rest and slowing down, to aid relaxation and tranquility.

Yin yoga is the ability to be able to connect in to yourself and give yourself what you need. The 5 principles of Yin are stillness, time, release/relaxation, edge of comfort, and breath.

We will use self-massage (using a massage ball) to help hydrate connective tissue within the body and calm the central nervous system. Then moving into the yoga poses you are supported with props (yoga bolster, blankets, cushions) and poses are held for time to allow meditation and mindfulness, helping you to become emotionally aware and to release stress/ tension, both mentally and physically. This practice will enable you to connect back to yourself.

The potential benefits of this practice? Loads! Yin yoga can help to calm the central nervous system, lower your heart rate, balance hormones, balance emotions, prevent joint rigidity as we age, improves flexibility, nourishes your internal organs, improves mental clarity and focus and encourages mindfulness. The myofascial massage encourages release and restoration of the fascia (connective tissues within the body), which is of HUGE benefit to our entire wellbeing.

No experience of yoga is necessary; this is a slow and meditative practice. It is very much floor-based, so the ability to sit or lie on the floor for long periods is required.

*Massage balls and yoga blocks will be provided.

*You will need to bring a drink, yoga mat, yoga bolster or alternative, blankets, eye mask, cushions, and other items to ensure your comfort and for propping.
