About this class

In a one-hour restorative class we will do about five postures with the body completely supported on cushions, blankets and blocks, the perfect way to end the week and prepare to flow into weekend mode.

About this class

resulting in a state of calm on all levels. During the practice the body rests, allowing the mind and body to slip into a state of deep stillness and peace.

Please have some cushions, pillows and blankets close by. You will learn how to use them in the class. You can use books instead of blocks, a scarf for an eye pillow, duvets as bolsters and create your own little nest to settle into.

The calmness of the practice enables us to experience the inner landscape and develop an understanding of how to nourish ourselves. Many of us live our lives in a state of low-level tension. This can become so familiar that we no longer notice the stress and learn to adapt to it. The more you practise restorative yoga the more quickly you will learn to recognise and release underlying discomfort.

During the practice you may drift between being asleep and awake and enter a deeply healing state known as the hypnagogic state in which long-held dis-ease can be assimilated.

Welcome!

I’m Anthony, the founder of BU-Evolution.

After many years of launching new businesses, I got sick of having to compete all the time. I began to suffer from fear and anxiety – and started to withdraw and work on my own more and more, which didn’t suit me. I frequented many spiritual and philosophical groups, looking for another way of living. I watched lots of YouTube videos, and then it dawned on me that people kept telling me what to do. I also had no idea if the people making the videos had even experienced what they were telling me to do.

Around the same time I heard a great phrase from South Africa – ubuntu – which can be translated as “I am because of we”. I felt a strong desire to build a community in which people could help each other by sharing their experiences. In the spirit of ubuntu, I began to talk to my friends about these ideas in early 2018. One of them was John Purkiss, whom I’d met on a spiritual course five years earlier. The more we talked, the more we realised that we’d had similar experiences – and we both wanted to help people to help each other.

We’ve launched this website as a platform on which all of this can happen. It includes a blog which we will update regularly. We’re looking for people who would like to share their stories of how they’ve improved their wellbeing.

I hope you’ll join the Evolution. Please subscribe to our weekly newsletter, post your comments on our blog and get involved.
