RESTORE2 (Recognise early soft-signs, Take observations, Respond, Escalate) is a physical deterioration and escalation tool that incorporates the National Early Warning Score (NEWS2) to help care home staff recognise when a resident’s condition is deteriorating.

Restore2 can improve care through the early identification of deterioration. It has been endorsed and recommended for use by Care Quality Commission, Dept for Health and Social Care, NHS England, British Geriatrics Society, Learning Disabilities Mortality Review and Public Health England.

The aim of this half day free session is to provide the underpinning knowledge for care staff using the RESTORE2™ tool in practice.

This session will discuss the RESTORE2 tool and how it is used to recognise early signs of deterioration, support decision making and promote effective communication between health and care services

Method of learning: Microsoft Teams

The training is entirely online learning which is led by a tutor in real time. You will need access to a computer and internet during all the training, preferably the trainer will need to be able to see and hear from you as the training will be interactive.

There is pre-course work with both sessions designed to take no longer than 90 mins to complete. Read the case study and complete a reflection. Identify a resident you have looked after in the past who deteriorated while you were looking after them. It’s important for you to have access to the documents both before and during the course, as you’ll need to refer to them as part of the training.

As spaces are limited, we request that you register a maximum of 2 staff from each care organisation, and then disseminate the RESTORE 2 training through them to the other staff in your organisation.

No other participants can take part unless they are registered.
Whilst we understand it is not always possible it is preferred that each student is online on their own device, however if this is not possible and there is more than one person sharing the screen, then they must all make themselves aware to the tutor, as we are able to issue any certificates of completion if we do not have the details of all those on the training.
If those attending do not give the tutor their name, their place of work and their job role, then we will not be able to issue certificates to that person.
