Event description

Description

This one-day workshop will help to restore the older trees within the UK’s 'Best Community Orchard 2017’ at Platt Fields Park, Manchester. You’ll gain the skills and knowledge to take back to your older and/or larger trees which may have lost their way either at home or within your own community orchard.

SATURDAY - 10-4pm

You'll get hands on training from expert trainer Mark Simmonds (Coop Culture) who has a wealth of experience planting, restoring and working with community orchards across the North West. You will also have Helping Britain Blossom’s own project manager Dan Hasler on hand to assist, guide and advise. Under their supervision and guidance you'll quickly be assessing trees, making cuts and restoring the 80+ fruit trees within the park.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided for all participants.

This workshop is FREE to those who are already Helping Britain Blossom orchard leaders or carers and there is a ticket price of £20 to members of the public.

ADDITIONALLY: Why not come back on Sunday 21st between 1pm - 4pm to further your experience and put into practice your new found skills? This will be hosted by the ‘Platt Fields Volunteer Sunday Group’ along with Dan Hasler and we hear there may be a Wassail to enjoy and the end of the day too.
