Event description

Description

The rise of populism across the world is not only a vague threat to basic human values, but also a very concrete challenge to climate, social security, scientific progress, and peace. It necessitates a response from all cross-sections of society and demands a drastic change from the current status quo of political lethargy. Professionals in privileged positions, which either depend on public money or public opinion carry additional responsibility. They must put more effort into counteracting this negative development.

The aim of this event is to hear from citizens, scientists, administrators, and public figures how best to handle the current crisis. How to counteract populism and inspire political activism? How to incorporate people in the political discourse? In a short speech the participants of the discussion will outline the challenges of their domain, but more importantly also provide specific suggestions and a roadmap for further action. The final discussion aims at unifying the individual perspective.

We are happy to announce the following speakers in our discussion round:
o Dr. Ina Hartwig (Deputy Mayor of Cultural Affairs)
o Prof. Wolf Singer (Neuroscience)
o Prof. Rolf van Dick (University Vice-president, Social Psychology)
o Dr. Daniel Röder (Pulse Of Europe)
o Prof. Nicole Deitelhoff (International Relations and Theories of Global Orders)

Moderated by: Dr. Dejan Draschkow

This event will be held in German. Everybody is welcome to join.
