The workshop covers basic retail numbers – gross and net sales, profit margin and mark-up – as well as KPIs such as conversion rate, spend per visitor and average transaction value. We’ll look at the factors that influence each KPI and how they can be used to give insight, before delving into stock management - how much stock to buy to support sales, what stock turn actually is and the notion of stock cover.
The trainer, John Prescott, began his working life in Chartered Accountancy but then moved into retailing where he has held senior management positions with major high street companies. He has worked exclusively in the heritage retail sector since 1979 and is also a lecturer on Heritage & Museum Management at Birmingham University.
