What can your retail outfit gain from upselling and cross-selling?

The short answer is more revenue.

However, the best part about upselling and cross-selling lays in the details. It’s revenue that you really don’t have to work for.
I mean there’s obviously a few tweaks here and there you need to do and it will require some work, but it’s requires far less effort than bringing new customers to your store:

1) For starters, you don’t have to work as hard with these customers as you would with normal walk ins that are just looking around. These customers have already made the decision to buy something. The question is if they want to buy more.
2) Another perk of upselling and cross-selling is the low, or even nonexistent, costs. Normally, you would need to invest time and money into a new customer, but these customers are there and already buying.
3) You would need to invest into AdWords campaigns, SEO, other marketing medthods just to get someone to your store. You would then need to convince them to buy something from you.

When using upselling and cross-selling, the hard part’s already done. With no extra cost.
Finally, as your customers’ lifetime value goes up, they will also become more loyal to your brand. They more they buy from you, the more they will trust you. And a customer who trusts you will come back for more.
It is incredibly important to have your customer facing team firing on up-selling and cross-selling and there are some incredibly simple techniques that can be taught over 2 short workshops.

Daniel believes that any employee’s greatest tool is to believe in the company, its values and why they are in business. It allows for an ‘authentic’ customer interaction.
