Event description
Join us for a series of fun and informative online activities exploring the impact of common household waste and ways to tackle this issue

About this Event

ReThink, ReMake, ReCycle: What do you waste?

A series of free sustainability-focused online activities hosted by KWMC The Factory in which you can:

  • Discover the scale and impact of paper and plastic waste on our planet
  • Find out how much you waste and what you can do to reduce this
  • Explore how to make DIY alternatives

As some of the workshop activities involve heating ingredients on a cooking stove, we recommend that under 16s must be supervised by an adult, and that the activities are not suitable for children under the age of 7.

By booking a place, you are signing up to receive an at-home workshop pack for your household and access to a range of online activities that will take place between Monday 23rd and Friday 27th November 2020, during the European Week for Waste Reduction.

*PLEASE NOTE* This workshop is aimed at people living in Bristol, Bath and the surrounding South West area, but we are open to participants attending from further afield provided they are UK based, as we are unable to post items internationally.

Your pack will include:

  • Printed 'waste audit' sheets for measuring how much paper and plastic waste your household produces over an average week
  • Joining instructions for our kick off webinar picking apart the data and impact of plastic and paper waste on our planet
  • An invitation to take part in a live online 'Design Thinking' workshop with sustainable designer Lisa Cole, getting creative thinking up big ideas and prototyping ways to reduce your paper waste
  • Links to new video tutorials for learning how to make reusable fabric alternatives, such as washable cleaning cloths to replace paper towels
  • Ingredients & tools for making your very own 'bioplastics' pots, and a link to our live demo workshop to take you through the process step by step
  • A sample of our recycled plastic sheet

We will ensure each pack is fully sanitised, and hygiene measures and social distancing maintained during delivery and collection, to ensure the safety of all staff and participants involved.

More details including workshop times and sign up instructions will be provided as soon as they become available. For further information or for any questions about the activities, please contact The Factory on 0117 403 2306 or thefactory@kwmc.org.uk.
