About this event

NEU National CPD are piloting a new type of interactive webinar.

This webinar follows on from the previous Rethinking Behaviour webinars (you do not need to have attended those) exploring a range of factors that will be likely to impact on behaviour in schools in the unique context of a return to school after lockdown.

The webinar will be interactive with the opportunity to work in a smaller breakout group with a tutor, due to this numbers are limited. The breakouts will be randomly allocated. After you register you will be sent a zoom link separately to join the webinar.

Structure

15 minutes - introduction from NEU plus short keynote from Steve Russell

50 minutes - workshops, assigned randomly

25 minutes - plenary, share outcomes of each workshop with whole group

Suitable for – Teachers, support staff

Break out workshops details

1.Positive Psychology in the classroom - Dr Rob Long

Schools are understandably concerned for the wellbeing and mental health of all children returning to school post lockdown. This workshop will explore the practical contributions Positive Psychology can make to developing resilience and promoting happiness in all learners.

2.It’s the Stage not the Age that Counts - Steve Russell

This workshop will explore how reframing behaviour as a form of communication can lead to more effective and sustainable strategies. With a particular focus upon attachment and self-esteem, the material will be applicable for staff working with pupils and students across all age groups.

3.The R8 Model - Jake Mansell

This session will explore an enhancement of a useful model to proactively build and maintain relationships to maximise the potential for calm and purposeful learning spaces. You will be invited to contribute to this reshaping of the 6R+C model from the previous sessions, which has been updated to further explore the ways that we may effectively recognise and respond to different learner behaviours.

4.What science tells us about behaviour- Pete Hrekow

This workshop will briefly review how science can inform our understanding of behaviour from the perspectives of neuroscience, psychology and epigenetics. We will focus on how key aspects of these disciplines can be directly translated into classroom practice.

Places on this online course are limited and open to NEU members only.

Closer to the date of the training we will send you a link to register for the Zoom meeting, you will need to fill this in to access the training. If in the meantime you become unavailable on this date please let us know so we can offer your place to another member.
