Businesses of all sizes struggle to balance innovation with business as usual. Although both activities are vitally important, it can sometimes feel as though the two are at odds with one another as they compete for attention, resource and time. Embracing such tension is vital, especially if you wish to become a truly ambidextrous firm: equally brilliant at both innovation and wringing every last drop out of today.
This interactive session, led by strategic innovation consultants, Matt Stocker and Debbie Stocker, will give you the tools you need to create a culture that embraces innovation, and it will show you how to harness high performance leadership techniques that use different management approaches for innovation and the day-to-day.
Together, we will explore:
• The key differences between innovation and business as usual.
• Organisational Ambidexterity–what is it, why does it matter, and how does your firm stack up?
• The different types of innovation (from incremental, ‘small i’ innovation to disruptive, ‘Big I’ innovation) and the different management approaches that are needed even for these.
• The role of leadership, management and strategy in creating ambidexterity.
• Insights from other organisations that have got the balancing act right.
The session will be engaging, interactive and hopefully inspiring. Bring your own ideas and insights–there may even be prizes!
Stocker Partnership is a strategic innovation consultancy. With a range of clients from sole traders to household names, husband and wife team, Matt and Debbie Stocker, have helped dozens of companies build a better future for themselves. Literally anything can be innovated, from strategy to office hours, all that’s needed is a little imagination and a willingness to challenge the status quo. Matt and Debbie believe that many organisations miss out on significant opportunities and leave challenges unresolved simply because they accept the status quo. Everyone has within them the potential to innovate, sometimes they just need a little help to learn how.
Experienced trainers, facilitators and speakers, Matt and Debbie have facilitated open courses, presented to audiences in both auditoriums and intimate settings, created live innovation and strategy challenges, and supported case study based learning, in addition to running regular in-house workshops for their clients.
Amongst others, they have been engaged by Warwick Business School, the Royal British Legion, Warwick Manufacturing Group, Action on Hearing Loss, Lucid Computer Solutions, Widgit Software, Nutshell Communications, Vanti, and the University of Warwick.
A strategist, designer, innovator and geek, Matt founded the firm in 2009. With over 10 years’ experience working in and with more than 70 companies across a wide variety of sectors, he is a big picture, visual thinker known for his ability to dissect complex business challenges.
