About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

How did a couple of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram and TikTok) become the sole platforms for reaching audiences? And what happens now, as political shifts and tech skepticism reshape the digital landscape and creators, organisers and cultural spaces start looking for alternatives?

This seminar is an invitation to rethink digital strategies away from opaque algorithms. With insights from voices across cultural and digital fields, it explores how to move beyond Meta’s and ByteDance’ platforms – and what new tools, tactics and communities might emerge in the process. Three speakers will talk about how creators, producers and organisers can begin to shift away from dominant platforms without losing connection and describe strategies and networks that are already in motion.

It’s a space for learning, inspiration and practical direct action – for anyone who is ready to rethink how we show up and engage online.

This seminar is presented by Media Evolution in collaboration with Inkonst – an independent venue in Malmö that presents innovative and contemporary culture that moves outside of the established, obvious and genre defined.

Speakers

Maia Lorentzen, Cybernauterne.
Cybernauterne is a network of cybersecurity and digital media experts offering courses, talks, and advice. Since 2018, they’ve made digital issues accessible to non-experts through creative, participatory workshops on topics like online privacy, fake news, algorithms, and cybersecurity, while combining a love of technology with a critical approach to the digital world.

Johan Forsman, Skogen / Samarbetet.
Skogen is an artist-run ecosystem of spaces, tools, and processes for performance, publishing, video, and collaborative art. With hubs in Gothenburg, Vara, and Vårgårda, they host public events, study groups, and shared meals. Skogen supports long-term, sustainable cultural work and challenges short-term, commercial models.
