We are on a mission to make the reuse and redistribution of surplus furniture, equipment and supplies mainstream in organisations.

As a stakeholder in making reuse happen in your organisation, we want to give you the ideas, tools and tips to help you do that in the most effective way possible.

The Warp It Workshops are an ongoing series of regional events designed to help you maximise reuse in your organisation, by sharing ideas and experiences with others in similar positions.

Attend these workshops if you are interested in maximising reuse in your organistion.


10.00 Welcome: Teas and coffees

Session 1 Buy in and making progress

10.20 5 ways to get senior buy in and more resources to support your reuse program.

The host of the event, John Bailey, Head of Sustainability at University of London, draws from numerous sustainability projects, to give you top tips on getting senior buy and ongoing resources for your reuse program.

10.40 How to make progress when everything else is trying to thwart you!

Sion Griffiths, Senior Sustainability Advisor from HMRC, gives you advice on how to make progress towards your objectives, even though you have many other priorities to deal.

11.00 Breakout session. How can you get commitment from varying stakeholders?

How to get procurement, FM, senior managers, capital development , operational or general staff excited about reuse. What are their hooks? What are their objections? What do they struggle with on a day to day basis? Each team will be given a persona to explore from the above. You will come up with ideas on how to get them to adopt reuse practices.

Session 2 Increasing participation in reuse

11.20 Tweaking the disposal policy to maximise reuse

Sumal Karunaratne is the Support Services Manager at the Royal Free NHS Trust. Sumal gives a perspective form the waste disposal function. He talks about how the Trust has changed disposal practice so that reuse is mandatory.

11.40 Joining up the policies:

From the complex and innovative to the simple no brainers, Fiona Daly from NHS Improvement talks about how to get projects funded and delivered.

12.00 10 quick actions you can take to increase participation.

Daniel from Warp It gives 10 tips that you can take which take less than 2 hours to pull together but have a massive impact on particpation.

Lunch at 12.20 noon.

12.40 How to build great donation relationships with charities.

Charles Craft from Better Reuse gives you theinside track on how to develop good working relationships with charities so that you have a a solid reuse optiion if internal reuse does not happen.

12.55 Innovation idea generator.

When it comes to reuse, waste or sustainability...What gives you the most headache at work? What is always on your to do list? What is the most expensive action? What takes the most time? What makes you say "There must be an easier way?".

In this break out session you will split into groups relating to your own area of expertise. Waste, FM, Procurement, Sustainability etc .

We will explore the common problems that you face in pursuing your day to day objectives. We will identify common areas of pain and you will start to generate some ideas to ease that pain.

We will then group assess the most fruitful ideas for futher development.

13.45 The way forward: How to set up a city and region wide sharing network.

Using Warp It case studies as a guide, Daniel wraps up the event with an action plan on how to facilitate more collaboration between the main players in your city and region. You will leave this session with a clear way forward.

14.00 Conculsion discussion and networking
