Description

Talk by Dr Bernard Vere
Sotehby's Institute of Art

Twice a year, London’s major auction houses hold sales of Impressionism and Modern art. Available to view in the days leading up to the auction, the sales include works by some of the great artists of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, providing an opportunity for the public to view major paintings that they might never have a chance to see again. This talk, by Dr Bernard Vere, Programme Director of Sotheby’s Institute of Art’s MA in Fine and Decorative Art and Design, looks at the results of the most recent sales that took place earlier this month.

Vere’s work has featured in a number journals and art magazines, including Art History, the online British Art Studies, Visual Culture in Britain, and Contemporary. He is an elected member of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) and has sat on the Executive Steering Committee of the British Association of Modernist Studies. He has been a speaker at Tate Modern, Tate Britain, Victoria and Albert Museum, and the University of Oxford, as well as presenting research at numerous conferences and galleries.
