Event description
GEM has developed a new online course to support museums to revisit content and incorporate the black curriculum in their programmes.

About this Event

Education has the power to reach into history and seek out diverse stories to highlight the contributions of people of colour throughout time. In light of the recent Black Lives Matter campaign, it has never been more important for museums to take action with regards to anti-racism, especially within museum learning.

Delivered in partnership with Share East Museums this interactive course will provide an opportunity to learn from recent practice and discuss and share ideas peer to peer.

Chaired by GEM Director Rachel Tranter, the course will include experienced and relevant speakers to explore how anti-racism can be embedded within museums and heritage content and learning programmes.

GEM operates throughout the UK and Europe, supporting emerging to senior professionals involved in delivering learning in museums, heritage and cultural settings. As a thriving and vibrant membership network of over 1,500 museum and heritage professionals, GEM also offers online learning opportunities, mentoring programmes, dedicated area reps and numerous networking opportunities to strengthen your career.
