Cambridge Conservation Forum Annual Symposium 2019

Rewilding and its Effects on Nature and People

Join us for two days of rewilding discussion and debate at the University of Cambridge and the David Attenborough Building, where we will explore current developments within the rewilding sector from around the world, and the effects this has on local livelihoods, nature and the economy.


  • Day 1 Friday 11th January - Talks & lectures in main auditorium

  • Day 2 - Saturday 12th January - Talks & lectures in main auditorium + workshops and other events in the David Attenborough Building.


We are thrilled to have already confirmed world leaders from within the sector, who will contribute to a stimulating and inspirational conference.

Once the programme is finalised, you'll be able to book places to either talks or sessions running in parallel throughout the Saturday in the main auditorium and the David Attenborough Building.

  • Belinda Bell: Director Cambridge Social Ventures, University of Cambridge Judge Business School.

  • Derek Gow: Sheep farmer & breeder of native species for rewilding reintroductions throughout the UK.

  • EJ Milner-Gulland: Tasso Leventis Professor of Biodiversity at the University of Oxford.

  • Frans Schepers: Managing Director of Rewilding Europe.

  • Angelika von Heimendahl: Farmer, veterinarian & the owner of CamCattle Cambridge Sustainable Foods.

  • Alan Watson Featherstone: Nature photographer and the founder of the award-winning charity Trees for Life.

  • Germaine Greer: Literary scholar, journalist, author and alumna Professor at the University of Melbourne.

  • George Monbiot: Environmental journalist, author of Feral and writer for the Guardian.

  • Isabella Tree: Author, travel writer, and co-owner of the Knepp Estate.

  • Rebecca Wrigley: Chief Executive and co-founder of Rewilding Britain.


Get Involved

This will be an international and inclusive conference looking to integrate opinions from the farming community, the conservation sector and others who are interested in this highly topical and fast-moving field. As such, this two-day event will offer talks and events from speakers we have invited, and we will also be actively accepting proposals from anyone who is looking to contribute to conferences programme; providing a platform for a range of backgrounds and viewpoints.

Therefore, applications are now open for proposals on workshops and/or talks or events you’d like to run during the conference. Once you have bought your ticket, please consider applying for an event space on our website here: https://rewilding-uk.org/.

Please note that due to limited conference capacity we are unable to offer workshops and talks to all that apply. Applicantions will be reviewed by the conference event judging panel, and successful applicants will be notified as soon as possible.

Tickets

We have tickets available for students, adults and CCF members. Tickets include access to the conference over two days, breakfast/afternoon tea & coffee on both days, and an evening wine reception on Friday.


Please note

We're supporting the Love Cambridge initiative, and as such lunch is included in the conference ticket price however all delegates will need to visit the town centre to get food with a special payment card found within the welcome pack.
