Want to know more about enabling natural processes to repair and restore damaged eco systems?
Approximate course length:
2.5 hours per week for 5 weeks
This course is for:
Anyone wanting to know more about rewilding with little or no experience.
You will learn:
• the ecological processes underpinning rewilding
• about restoring natural ecological processes
• how to apply this knowledge in your own backyard
This is a classroom-based course which will provide an opportunity to develop your sustainability skills in a friendly, sociable environment.
There are no exams or formal assessments.
There will be chance to ask questions and put what you have learned into practice.
Work outside of sessions:
This is not required, though we hope you will want to put what you have learned into practice.
You may be given tasks or activities to practise or prepare between sessions.
Additional costs and what to prepare:
There are no other costs.
You will need a pen and paper, laptop or tablet so that you can make your own notes. Handouts may be provided.
How to access your course:
An email with joining details will be sent within 3 working days of the start date of the course.
Progression from this course:
You may wish to progress to Introduction and Improvers Joinery; or one of our outdoor ‘hands on’ courses such as Hedge laying, Coppicing, Practical Woodland Management, Introduction to Woodland Ecology; one of our many gardening courses Plant Health: Pests & Diseases, Planning a Garden, Sustainable Gardening or an environmental sustainability course such as Building a Wildlife Pond, Introduction to Beekeeping, Exploring the Climate Crisis and Sustainable Woodland Management or a qualification course Level 2 Diploma in Environmental Conservation

Course fees explained
Some of our courses are free of charge. Others have a full fee and a lower ‘concessions’ rate for those on certain benefits. This may vary from course to course so please ask when enquiring about a particular course. For many of our learning for leisure courses we use three different fee bands:
Fee A: Full feeFee B: Derbyshire Gold cards holdersFee C: Concessions for those on certain benefits/allowances – please ask for details
There may be additional costs on some courses for materials please ask for details.
If selecting one of the reduced rates, you will be asked to show proof of entitlement when attending course.
Booking:
A booking fee is charged by Eventbrite for each booking, this is retained by Eventbrite. Derbyshire Adult Community Education Service receive the course fee.
