A forum for an exchange of knowledge and ideas between researchers and practitioners*.

About this Event

Aim: To provide a forum for an exchange of knowledge and ideas between researchers and practitioners* leading to long-term change in the way these groups understand and interact with one another.

Objectives:

• To connect researchers and practitioners through an exchange of knowledge and ideas

• To enthuse practitioners to engage actively with research after the conference in a variety of ways

Outcomes:

• Practitioners understand the importance of engaging with research and its potential impact on classroom practice

• Researchers understand better the barriers and enablers in relation to teachers of RE engaging with research

*The term practitioner has been used to denote teachers, advisers, leaders and members of religious and non-religious worldview communities.

Programme:

There will be a mix of keynotes, parallel sessions and structured conversations.

Please note: The programme timings are subject to change due to the event now being virtual

The draft programme is:

From 9am: Networking, poster displays, refreshments

9.45am Welcome, aims and ambitions

10.00am A series of parallel sessions led by researchers and teachers with group discussion

11.00 am Keynote: Professor Vivienne Baumfield, Director of Research and Professor of Professional Learning at the University of Exeter and President Elect of BERA

11.45 Workshop Style Interactive sessions led by researchers and teachers

12.30pm Lunch, interaction with research posters and vote for your panel!

1.15pm A series of parallel sessions moving immediately into

2.15pm Facilitated Mixed Group discussions reflecting back on sessions, generating questions for the panel and talking about ways to follow up on the day

2.45pm Refreshments

3.00pm Panel Session focusing on how researchers and practitioners can be brought together effectively

3.30pm Keynote: Dr Richard Kueh, Her Majesty’s Inspector: Schools, Subject Lead for Religious Education

4pm Close

Cost:

Those registering before 30th June – FREE.

Those registering between 30th June and 31st August - £10 administration charge will be made.
