From Hannah:

Rugby is a sport that says We and not I.

Sometimes you have the ball in hand and you are running down the pitch ready to score a diving try. Then, out of the blue, you are tackled, lieing there with nowhere to go. It is your friends and teamates who come over you and protect you and carry you through to the next phase of play. Rugby is a bit like life. You get tackled and it's the people around you who support you.

That is why, as a rugby player, I would like to support this charity and the work they do...

From the RFU Injured Players Foundation (http://www.rfuipf.org.uk/)

"We provide support and information to rugby players in England who sustain a catastrophic spinal cord injury or traumatic brain injury playing the game, and help prevent future injuries through research and education.

Our assistance is available to any player, from grassroots up to professional level, to empower them to lead their lives as fully and independently as they are able to. We are there for the player, family, friends and club immediately after injury and for the rest of their lives.

We are continually funding research to make breakthroughs to understand how we can improve the care of the injured player and make the game of rugby safer with the vision to allow everyone to play the game without catastrophic injuries occurring.

We also offer help to individuals who sustain injuries while playing rugby that are not classed as a catastrophic spinal cord injury or a traumatic brain injury, by providing information and where possible by relieving financial hardship.

We want everyone who loves the game to get involved. 100% of your financial support goes directly to supporting injured players and towards funding injury prevention research as the RFU covers all of our overheads and administration costs."
