This course is for:

This is an information session for anyone interested in achieving RHS Horticulture qualifications to help them progress in their existing/ new career.

The course will cover:

You will learn about the ideal qualifications for entry into horticultural employment, improving practical skills or further study.

The course will cover:

• An outline of the different qualifications, theory and practical, and how they combine to create the Level 2 Diploma

• the kind of job opportunities the qualifications could lead to

• the structure of the qualifications: unit content, assessments, exams, homework and work and time commitment

• Minimum entry requirements, delivery style and days and times, including holidays and term dates, and fees

This is a classroom based session which will provide an opportunity to increase your knowledge about the courses in order to help you make a decision about enrolment.

A short assessment, including free writing, will form part of the session as evidence of literacy skills and this assists staff in the selection process should the course be over-subscribed. Candidates will need to be working at Level 2 literacy or above in order to enrol on one of the courses.

Your tutor will be able to answer question, including sign-posting to literacy classes should that be required/ requested.

Work outside of sessions:

This is not required, though we hope you will want to enrol on one of our courses or complete an intensive Functional Skills English class.

Additional costs and what to prepare:

This course is offered free of charge and there are no other costs.

You will need a pen and paper, laptop or tablet so that you can make your own notes. Handouts may be provided.

How to access your course:

An email with joining details will be sent within 3 working days of the start date of the course.

Progression from this course:

You may wish to progress to RHS Level 2 Certificate in Practical Horticulture ; RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Garden Planning, Establishment and Maintenance or Functional Skills English or any of the community learning gardening/ outdoor/ creative courses taking place next academic year.

We are Derbyshire County Council's Adult Community Education Service; we deliver a range of courses and education provision.

Welcome to our Summer 2021 programme of FREE Learning for Leisure courses provided for Derbyshire residents. This term we are offering a range of online and in person, centre-based courses.

The Summer 2021 programme of FREE courses is available to book from 9am on Monday 22 March 2021.

Our courses are provided free for Derbyshire (UK) residents, we reserve the right to cancel any bookings that we believe too not be genuine.
