Rhythm, Rhyme and Story-time is a universal group that is run by Ards Sure Start Speech & Language team in various locations in Ards and the Peninsula. We are open to all Sure Start families with children from birth up until their 4th Birthday. It's never too early to sing, read, play and interact with your little one to promote their early speech and language development. We know this sets the foundations to give your child the best start in life.
We recommed this Rhythm, Rhyme & Storytime session which is open to all children (0-4years) alongside parents/grandparents/childminders. We have a different theme each week and activities are led at a slower place. Gentle action songs, musical instruments, props, books, and simple attention and listening exercises make this group ideal for children who show enjoyment in stories and songs, are beginning to follow an adult led activity, and can engage for short periods of time.
RRST has many benefits and we have numerous aims and objectives that we try to meet during the session. This list shows just a few of them;
-Developing bonding and attachment
-Increasing confidence
-Promoting Message of the month
-Signposting to other groups/agencies
-Increasing knowledge of communication, interaction & brain development
-Developing attention and listening skills
-Promoting a growing vocabulary
-Understanding the importance of rhymes & books
-Providing turn taking and social opportunities
