About this event

Family & Education • Parenting

Rhythm, Rhyme and Story-time is a universal group that is run by Ards Sure Start Speech & Language team in various locations in Ards and the Peninsula. We are open to all Sure Start families with children from birth up until their 4th Birthday. It's never too early to sing, read, play and interact with your little one to promote their early speech and language development. We know this sets the foundations to give your child the best start in life.

We recommed this General Family Session for all children (0-4years) with parents/grandparents/childminders welcome to attend. We have a different theme each week (e.g Jungle, Zoo, Food etc) with some physical activities incorporating movement, dance, parachute play, attention building activities, instruments and props. Ideal for families with more than one child, and/or for children who benefit from a more fast paced/physically active group. Lots of fun for toddler and pre-schoolers who are mobile and able to engage in slightly more physical activities. .

RRST has many benefits and we have numerous aims and objectives that we try to meet during the session. This list shows just a few of them;

-Developing bonding and attachment

-Increasing confidence

-Promoting Message of the month

-Signposting to other groups/agencies

-Increasing knowledge of communication, interaction & brain development

-Developing attention and listening skills

-Promoting a growing vocabulary

-Understanding the importance of rhymes & books

-Providing turn taking and social opportunities
