Module One: Architect's guide to tax

In 2019, the 5-hours, 25-min webinar series is delivered over five days, with intervening gaps, allowing you time to reflect, revise and review. You can attend all five modules in the series thus future proofing your business, or you can attend relevant modules only, if you need to refresh your understanding of each topic.

Following completion of all five webinars in the series, an attendance certificate will be issued showing that you attended the RIBA-accredited Business Skills Webinar Series.

Module one will cover the following topics:

  • An overview of the tax aspects of the typical operating structures for architects and how the business tax interacts with your personal tax position
  • How key stakeholders can sell their businesses to Employee Ownership Trust and then implement incentive arrangements to lock-in, motivate and reward their key talent
  • Live Q&A

What you need to attend this webinar

  • Laptop / Desktop: please note use of mobile/tablet is not advisable as some interactions are not compatible with these devices. You do not need access to a webcam to join this webinar.

  • Headphone: if you are joining this webinar from your office / crowded location, please ensure you have a working headphone with you.

  • Confirmation email: after the booking has been made, you will be sent a link to join this webinar, including instructions on how to join. Please follow this link at least 10min prior to event’s start time. Confirmation email will be sent 7 days prior to the event start date.

Neil Williams, BDO
Neil is a Partner within the London Professional Services team, with over 18 years of tax experience gained equally between a big four firm and BDO. Specialising in people businesses for the last 11 years, Neil has advised a wide range of firms across the financial services, property, legal and consultancy sectors. Neil will take ultimate responsibility for the quality of the BDO tax services and will work closely with you on the implementation of any advisory services.

Terms and Conditions

  • Delegates need to use their full name when booking the event on Eventbrite and use the same full name when joining the webinar. If a third party is making the booking on behalf of the delegate, they will need to notify the delegate to use the same full name when joining the webinar. Please note we reserve the right to refuse entry if the names upon entry do not match the booking name. But an alternative booking name can be used if they do not want their full name displayed. This will need to be amended to reflect the above.
  • CPD Club Tickets are non-refundable
  • CPD Club Tickets can be held by an individual or a practice
  • It is the ticket holder’s RIBA membership status which determines the rate
  • If a CPD Club Ticket is purchased by an individual RIBA member, the ticket may only be used by that person
  • If a CPD Club Ticket is purchased by a RIBA chartered practice, they will be charged the lower rate and the practice can have any member of staff attend each webinar; however, only individuals attending all six webinars can be provided with a certificate of attendance.
  • If a CPD Club Ticket is purchased by a practice which is not a RIBA chartered practice, they will be charged the higher rate, regardless of the membership status of the delegate(s) attending
  • If a CPD Club ticket is purchased by a practice, the practice needs to provide the full names of delegates at least 48 hours prior to each event date by emailing riba.cpd@riba.org.
  • PAYG cancellations are acceptable 10 working days prior to the event, please contact riba.cpd@riba.org for cancellation requests.
  • Substitutes are permitted up to a day prior to the event, please contact riba.cpd@riba.org for substitution requests.
  • Pay-as-you-go webinars may only be booked at the member rate by individual RIBA/CIAT members
  • Refunds will only be provided for pay-as-you-go seminars if cancellation is made at least 10 working days before the event
  • If you are unable to attend any webinars or substitute a delegate, please inform riba.cpd@riba.org at least 48 hours prior to the event date.
  • An email will be sent to confirm your place after you have made your booking via Eventbrite links or other methods. A second email confirming webinar link will be sent to you approximately 7-10 days before the webinar.
  • If you require a purchase order to be quoted on your invoice this must be supplied at the time of booking.
  • Invoices are payable within 30 days
  • The RIBA accepts no responsibility for the views or opinions expressed by speakers or any other person at the event
  • The event will be recorded for internal use only.
  • By accepting an invitation or purchasing a ticket you consent to your name being displayed as a visitor attending the webinar. But an alternative booking name can be used if they do not want their full name displayed. This will need to be amended to reflect the above.
  • If the RIBA has to postpone or cancel the event the booker is entitled to a full refund of the ticket price only.
  • The RIBA reserves the right to refuse admission to any ticket holder.
