RIBA Gloucestershire are delighted to be able to invite you to join us for Christmas drinks and a tour of the RICS South West Project of the Year 2016, Cheltenham Racecourse.
The £45m redevelopment of Cheltenham Racecourse, designed by Roberts Limbrick architects and constructed by Kier, was officially opened, to much acclaim, in November 2015 by the Princess Royal, whose name is taken by the new Grandstand as a centrepiece of the development.
The dramatic new complex creates an exciting and dynamic amphitheatre around Cheltenham's world famous Parade Ring, whilst massively improving circulation, providing new Club and Hospitality venues, and fantastic viewing to the Racecourse from the new Grandstand.
Stephen Limbrick Joint MD of Roberts Limbrick will give a talk ‘Past the Finish Line’ followed by a tour of the Grandstand.
As well as a building tour - going into areas not seen by the public - we will also be enjoying a glass of wine and finger buffet, as the branch reflects on our inaugural year of events and looks forward to 2017.
The event is free to RIBA Members thanks to the kind sponsorship of Interface and the RIBA Local Initiative Fund.
We will be fundraising on the evening for the Chamwell Centre Charity based in Gloucester, with a suggested donation of £5 per person. The Chamwell Centre plans to be a new state of the art therapy centre which incorporates a new hydrotherapy pool on the site of the Milestone School. The centre will serve people with disability from the local community across Gloucestershire as well as the pupils of the Milestone School.
