RIBA London Practice Clinic - Legal and Project Management

Calling all practice owners, sole practitioners and architects working in small practices! We’ve developed a series of interactive events to provide a forum to discuss issues and problems that crop up in the day to day running of a practice.

Our new Practice Clinics will create dialogue, discussion and provide practice support.

Each clinic will tackle two different subjects with two panels of experts and attendees can either submit a question they book their ticket or simply come along to join in the conversation.

The event will be interactive, allowing for attendees to pose questions to the panel and offer their own advice and experience.

The format is simple, if you have a hit a hurdle with a Legal or Project Management issue or problem this event will aim to solve it. You can submit questions when you book your ticket or put a question to the floor for our experts and your peers to discuss.

The Legal Panel:

Mark Klimt, Partner at DWF Law

Mark Klimpt has been a partner in DWF (formerly Fishburns) for more than thirty years, and specialises in both contentious and non-contentious construction matters. He is the head of the practice's Non-Contentious Contract Advisory Service working within the insurance sector, advising consultants of all disciplines as well as contractors on their professional liabilities, but with a specialism for architects. Mark is also a special adviser to RIBA, providing legal advice to RIBA members calling the RIBA legal helpline and has been involved in the preparation of a succession of RIBA standard appointment and construction documentation.

James Burgoyne Brunel

James joined Brunel in 2009 and heads up the Technical and Claims Department to ensure all our clients receive award winning risk management and claims servicing.

The Project Management Panel:

Myles Woodley - Norman Rourke Pryme

Myles is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a qualified project manager. He became a full equity Partner of norman rourke pryme in 2005 and is now a team leader of a project management group. With over 20 years' experience, Myles has worked on a number of large scale office developments and a wide variety of commercial fitting out projects. Most recently he has gained extensive experience working in the high end residential sector.

Yẹmí Àlàdérun

Yemi is a Major Projects Manager working on housing regeneration / estate modernisation projects at Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association. She previously worked at Barbara Weiss Architects as an Associate Architect.

Yemi is a nationally-elected council member of the Royal Institute of British Architects. She is an advocate for Educational Equality and Income Equality, and is extremely passionate about social mobility and broadening access to the construction industry.

Joe Thompson, Briq

Joe Thompson is a software engineer, product manager and entrepreneur with twenty years’ experience creating digital products. He co-founded one of the UK’s first online monitoring systems for local government and was part of the management team which sold the business to Tribal Plc in 2008. Since then he has held a variety of technology and product leadership roles, building applications for brands like Expedia, BMW, Ernst & Young, JustGiving and Zoopla.

Through first-hand experience with property development he became interested in optimising the client involvement in residential architecture and with architect Tom Gresford co-founded Briq, a tool for managing small architecture projects.
