Stitching Time: The Beginning of the Work

Tuesday 19th August 2025, 2pm - 3:30pm

Gallery Two, RIBA North

Free, please book a place.

Join RIBA Learning for an afternoon of sewing and chat inspired by the exhibition Where the Work Begins, that traces the evolution of the artist’s workspace. Over the duration of the exhibition, the fabric will evolve to represent the contributors and the conversations that unfold.

The exhibition will become our communal studio to create a mindful stitched work together. Come along to meet new people or chat to an old friend while you stitch shapes, words, patterns or draw with thread.

For all ages, under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult. Booking is advised, but please visit the exhibition during these times to see if we have space for you to join in.

About the workshop facilitator

The workshop leader is Lil Adams from RIBA Learning. Lil is an artist, jeweller and educator, her sewing has been exhibited at the Royal Academy and as part of immersive exhibitions with TRACES. The RIBA Learning programme provides exciting opportunities for everyone to explore, question and celebrate architecture.

Stitching Time

Stitching Time sessions will run throughout the duration of the exhibition, on Tuesday 17th June, Tuesday 22nd July and Tuesday 19th August 2025. Participants are invited to attend as many of the sessions as they like, to continue contributing to the communal piece.
