RIBA S/SE Conservation Group - Applying the ICOMOS charter - member point of view
For this month's talk we will be joined by three trustees of ICOMOS-UK
Working as an architect in conservation projects we have to have an understanding of the ICOMOS Guidelines and their practical application. For Education and Training in the Conservation of Monuments, Ensembles and Sites (1993) applicants should clearly demonstrate that they understand the principles of the ICOMOS charters and doctrinal texts and how to appropriately apply them in their decision-making.
Three trustees of ICOMOS-UK Valeria, Hazel and Deniz who are architects working in the conservation field, will talk about their personal experiences via specific project-related case studies, Valeria ‘the importance and relevance of the Charter, conservation in practice applying the Charter’, Hazel ‘Conservation in practice, working at an urban scale’. Deniz will explain the role of the ICOMOS and the membership benefits and opportunities from a personal perspective with examples as a newly joined member/trustee.
