Date: Saturday 24th June
Distance: 30 mile or 50 mile
Time: 6.00am start
12 hours to complete 30 miles finishing at 18.00
24 hours to complete 50 miles finishing at 6.00 on Sunday 25th June.
Take on this challenging 30 or 50 mile challenge that will test you mentally and physically whilst raising funds for two fantastic charities.
Starting from Settle, Yorkshire at 6.00am you will set off following the Ribble Way footpath and cross the beautiful landscape through the Yorkshire countryside and make your way down into Lancashire.
Walking along the Ribble Way is just the start as you will have to navigate your way to each checkpoint without being hunted by our secret force. Make sure your navigational skills are superior, because If you get hunted you will be removed from the course.
Each checkpoint provides a safe ground where you can prepare for the next section of the walk. It also allows you to meet up with your support crew, change clothes, give your feet a welcomed rest and top up your energy levels, before setting off for the next stretch.
The 30 mile course closes at Ribchester and 50 mile walkers will take a short break before setting off for the rest of the walk. The next section will include walking through the night, making navigating the route much more difficult. You will then complete the course finishing at Longton, Preston.
At the finish line you will be cheered through by spectators and presented with your well deserved Ribble Way Challenge medal and given a goody bag to take home.
Each team must have at least two walkers and one support crew as a minimum. Walkers are not permitted to walk solo on this event. If your team mate needs to abandon the event due to injury, the remaining walker can join another team or terminate your involvement in the event too. Maximum number of walkers in one team is six—please attach an additional list of details for more than 3 walkers.
Registration is £25 per walker. Support Crew go free. Each walker is asked to raise a sponsorship target of £250 as a part of your commitment to this event. Fundraising support will be given to help you achieve this target.
All proceeds from this event will be split between Winston's Wish and Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team.
