About this event

Travel & Outdoor • Other

Richard Smyth is one of the UK's busiest nature writers. His most recent book, The Jay, the Beech and the Limpetshell: Finding Wild Things with my Kids, sees him and his young family exploring the landscapes of the Pennines, West Yorkshire and the North East coast, and considers how knowledge and love of nature gets passed between the generations. Join us at NHSN as we talk to him about his life of writing in and about nature.

Richard's books include An Indifference Of Birds, The Jay, The Beech And The Limpetshell and the novel The Woodcock. He writes regularly for magazines including BBC Wildlife, Prospect, New Scientist, The Breakdown, The Fence and Aeon, and is a member of the Guardian's Country Diary team. He currently divides his time between West Yorkshire and North Tyneside.
