On October the 11th at the Unitarian School Room in Kendal, the Westmorland and Lonsdale Green Party will be hosting a talk by Richard Wilkinson, co-founder of The Equality Trust. The Equality Trust works to improve the quality of life in the UK by reducing economic inequality. UK income inequality is among the highest in the developed world and evidence shows that this is bad for almost everyone.
Richard Wilkinson is a British researcher in social inequalities in health and the social determinants of health. He is emeritus professor of public health at the University of Nottingham and co-author, with Kate Pickett, of The Spirit Level: Why More Equal Societies Almost Always Do Better. His work incudes research on the damaging effects of wider income differences between rich and poor which are not confined just to health.
We are delighted that he is coming to Kendal to talk about his work and that of the Trust and we welcome everyone along to this important event.
Food will be available from 7pm-7.45pm with the talk starting at 8pm. Please contact Gwen Harrison, firstname.lastname@example.org
