Ride, Ramble or Run 2017
Sun 10 September 2017, 13:00 – 17:00 BST
Poppyscotland's Ride, Ramble or Run (formerly known as the Highland Poppy Run) is, first and foremost, a fun event suitable for all ages and abilities which is why we have created a "Family Ticket". This will allow families of up to 6 members to participate in whatever event This year participants can choose to do either one of the 3 disciplines or challenge themselves to complete our Duathlon (Run & Ride). Participants can choose to Run, Walk or Cycle the following distances: 5km (walk, run & cycle), 10km (walk, run & cycle) and 20km (cycle only). There are 2 options for those wanting to do a Duathlon. The first is a 10km Run + 20km cycle for the experienced Duathlete and 5km Run + 10km Cycle for those who may be doing a Duathlon for the first time. Transition for the Duathlon will take place inside the Fort. Once again the event will start and finish inside the historic Fort George which is unique to any such public event staged in the Highlands. The race itself is a road event using the quieter country roads around Ardersier and the Moray Coast with marshals at various points around the course to make sure that no one gets lost along the way.
Cost - Child (Up to and including 16 yrs) Events - £5 & £7.50 (Duathlon Only), Adult Events £10 & £15 (Duathlon Only), Family Ticket (2 Adults & up to 4 Children) - £20. Eventbrite will charge an nominal administration fee for each booking payable at time of registration.
What will I receive - You should receive a confirmation email from the Eventbrite Online Entry Website confirming your ticket purchase for the relevant event you wish to participate in. Please bring that along on the day of the event. A race briefing will be given to you when you register on the day.
All Participants - On completion of your event you will be presented with a memento by a veteran. Unfortunately, we are unable to time the event so would urge all participants to bring their own timing device should you wish to time it yourself.
Safety - The event is run on open roads and while it is expected that traffic will be light, the risk associated with using the public highways cannot be understated. Participants are encouraged to wear bright (preferably Hi-viz) jackets, vests or T-shirts. If you are participating in a cycle event then the wearing of a cycle helmet will be MANDATORY. Failure to do so will result in your withdrawal from that event and while you will be invited to participate in either a walking or running event, should you decline that invitation, no refund will be offered.
Fundraising for Poppyscotland - We don't insist that you get sponsorship for this event but clearly it would be great if you tried to raise as much as possible through your efforts. Sponsor forms can be downloaded from the Poppyscotland web page (http://www.poppyscotland.org.uk/downloads-resources/) or you can set up Just Giving and Virgin Money Giving pages that are linked to Poppyscotland. Best of Luck!!!
