Ride to the Royal Docks
Event Information
About this Event
Due to the lockdown, we can't all meet at 9.30am at the Southwark Needle to do this ride. However, we can all still do the route of the ride if we set off from the start points in pairs at prearranged intervals.
As Eventbrite bookings are "blind", in addition to signing up for Eventbrite tickets, we also need to use the Doodle poll at https://doodle.com/poll/fr45nbqqsbt5ppre to indicate who we want to ride with, in the same way that we might choose who we want to talk to on a conventional social cycle ride.
Please do not attend if you are self-isolating or have Coronavirus symptoms.
This is an easy 20 mile loop using the Woolwich Ferry (or Foot Tunnel) and returning via the Greenwich Foot Tunnel. No hills, mostly off road or quiet streets. Lots to see always on the river.
We start at the Southwark Needle or Cutty Sark Gardens and then cycle eastwards along the Thames Path and the no-longer-missing link to Woolwich, passing the O2 and the Thames Barrier. We then cross on Ferry or foot tunnel to the Silvertown area.
We then return along north side of the Royal Albert Dock. We head back to the Thames to cycle through the Thames Barrier Park and the hidden-away Lyle Park, before returning past East India Dock to Cutty Sark Gardens, where the ride finishes.
This is the route for the ride.
