Right to Work update; CIPD B&MK
Wednesday, 18 January 2017 from 18:30 to 21:00 (GMT)
Immigration Enforcement Officers from the Immigration, Compliance and Enforcement team for the East of England, part of the Home Office, will lead this interactive CPD session giving practical explanations of how organisations can avoid being fined £20,000 for each accidental illegal worker or be subject to unlimited fines for deliberate recruitment of illegal workers. They will remind those attending of the relevant legislation while explaining how applicants might set out to mislead recruiters. They will explain how to add to existing practices, policies and procedures to be safe and effective recruiters and employers. They will bring examples of “fake” passports to show both the sophisticated and less professional attempts produced to confuse employers.
This event forms part of a series under the running title "Creating Harmony" offering members a range of topical subjects for both generalists and specialists. You will be supporting your Continuing Professional Development because through working with the facilitator, you will understand how to be:
Purposeful: designing and managing effective processes which keep the organisation safe
Agile: managing the tensions between recruiting necessary skills and UK legislation
Collaborative: learning from good practices
Expert: explaining the benefits from more effectively managing recruitment and employment
Professional photography and video production will be taking place at the event, and these images may be used on future promotional materials for CIPD. Please note that by attending the event, you are giving your consent for your image to be used on any CIPD promotional materials.
