Rise & Design No.71 - Design for Subsea applications
Fri 9 September 2016, 08:30 – 11:30 BST
It's difficult enough designing products and systems which will function on solid ground, let alone submerged under the sea. This Rise and Design will explore some of the challenges designers face in creating products for this sector.
Mahesh Menon, SMD
SMD are one of the world's leading manufacturers of ROVs, subsea ploughs and underwater mining equipment. Mahesh will talk in particular about the design and operation of subsea vehicles, and managing the risks associated with working underwater.
Chad Hooper, Succorfish
SuccorfishM2M is a global manufacturer of robust and highly innovative, machine-to-machine (M2M), hardware, software and data communication tracking solutions for land, marine, tactical and personal safety applications. Based in the UK and with a manufacturing facility in the USA, SuccorfishM2M has become a world leader of innovation, especially within international commercial fisheries, and is one of the strongest, expertise-rich organisations providing highly specialist asset management products. The company is at the forefront of its industry and works with (and employs) forward thinking, driven individuals who deliver the highest standards through effective leadership, design expertise and strategic growth.
Michael Shanley, PDL Solutions
PDL is a leader in the field of 3-D Computer Aided Design, Computational Fluid Dynamics, and their application in the Oil & Gas, Nuclear and Defence industries. Michael will describe how FEA, CFD and Global Dynamic analysis can optimise the design process for subsea systems, and mitigate issues due to fatigue, high pressure/high temperature and erosion.
Rise and Design lasts for approximately three hours, and includes networking before and after speakers. There is a chance to pitch at the end of the speakers' presentations, and you can book a stand for the whole event. We encourage all delegates to stay after presentations for neworking - it is one of the most valuable parts of Rise and Design. For more information, please visit our website
