Colour and its power of pursuasion is affects all of us, and it goes deeper than knowing that red means angry or passionate, and yellow is happy or enthusiastic. Ask yourself what colour Thursday is, and think about why; you'll see that we all have a strong emotional connection to colour that can sometimes be difficult to understand.
Colour can influence what we buy, how we feel and what we do. We'll be talking to colour experts on how each can harness this power to improve our business and our work.
Micheal Owen, Always Wear Red
AWR launched last year and as the name suggests is based on the principle that red is a powerful colour, creating confidence in the wearer. Michael will share the story behind the brand, and showcase some of their eye-catching products.
Gabriele Jordan, Newcastle University
Gabriele specialises in the neuroscience behind colour, and the application of that knowledge to areas as varied as mental illness and the appreciation of fine art. Gabriele will give us a short masterclass on colour perception and share some of her recent research.
Having run a successful packaging design business, Marie now devotes her time to the issue of colour blindness. Affecting more people than you might think, particularly males, it’s an issue that’s often overlooked by product and graphic designers. Marie will give an overview of this important issue and some pointers to make sure your business doesn’t lose out as a result.
Rise and Design lasts for approximately three hours, and includes networking before and after speakers. There is a chance to pitch at the end of the speakers' presentations, and you can book a stand for the whole event. We encourage all delegates to stay after presentations for neworking - it is one of the most valuable parts of Rise and Design. For more information, please visit our website
