The Rise Up Academy Summer School offers the perfect opportunity to get hands-on experience of working in media technology. and learn about all of the different steps that are needed to get great content onto your TV, tablet or phone.

This experience will include:

• Building a TV studio and creating a TV show;
• Exploring an Outside Broadcast (OB) Truck;
• Creating eye catching graphics;
• Learning more about post production and getting hands-on editing video content;
• Finding out more about what virtual production is;
• Exploring cloud technology with Amazon Web Services.

By attending, your child will benefit from the extensive experience of industry experts from leading media companies, including BT Sport, ITV, Discovery, Sky, disguise, Mo-Sys, Final Pixel, AWS, A&E Live, Raccoon, Post Super, Singular and many more.

Who can attend & what's included

The Rise Up Academy Summer School is free to attend and we welcome all young people in school years 10, 11, 12 and 13, as of July 2022.

We cannot cover travel/accommodation costs, however lunch and refreshments throughout the day are provided.

How to register

Parents or care givers can register their child/children by clicking on the register button.

We will collect your contact details, plus some basic details about each child attending. You can register more than one child when booking - but please note, you have to be in a position to give consent for each child to attend.

All advance communications will be sent to each attendee's parent/care giver (please only include your email address when filling in the registration form) - we will never contact your child directly.

The small print

We take every attendee's safety seriously - and we have safeguarding policies in place that can be accessed from the Rise website.

Please also note that photos and video footage may be taken throughout the two days. Permission for each attendee's image to be used is a requirement for all.

About the Rise Up Academy

The Rise Up Academy is an outreach programme delivering hands-on broadcast engineering and technical workshops to primary and secondary school children aged 9 through to 18 years old.

Its intention is to inspire, educate and inform children and young adults about the pathways and career opportunities available to them within the broadcast technology industry.

The Rise Up Academy is funded by media industry organisations, including BT Sport, ITV, Discovery, Sky, Blackmagic, Clear-Com, Disguise and Deluxe. It also relies on in-kind support from key delivery partners including Mo-Sys, Final Pixel, AWS, A&E Live, Singular and the Global Academy.
