Being aware of risk and understanding how to minimise and de-escalate dangerous situations is a skill that all practitioners must acquire. Critically analysing risk is informed by research, multi-agency working and an understanding of environmental factors impacting on vulnerable populations. Understanding the signs of risk with disabled children, mentally disabled persons, the elderly and people at risk of exploitation, is central to effective engagement with vulnerable populations.


Learning Outcomes

  • The risk assessment process, and the need to link to care plans

  • Step-by-step evaluation of risks

  • To be able to complete risk assessment forms

  • To understand how to review risk

  • To understand how to manage risk

Objectives

At the end of the course staff would be able to understand the risk assessment process and complete a risk assessment for a service user
