Join us for this session designed for professionals in children’s social care who are involved in assessing risk and developing care or support plans. These documents are far more than a regulatory requirement, they are foundational tools for ensuring children and young people receive care and support that is safe, responsive, and tailored to their needs.

This seminar focuses on how to create clear, practical, and trauma-informed plans that not only support compliance, but also improve the quality and impact of everyday practice. Whether you're new to care planning or want to refresh and strengthen your approach, this course will give you clarity, confidence, and tools you can use immediately.

Why This Course Matters

Risk assessments and care/support plans should be living documents that reflect each child’s individual story, vulnerabilities, strengths, and aspirations. Poorly written or generic plans not only undermine safety, they also compromise the effectiveness of care. This course will help participants:

✔️ Understand the purpose and structure of effective planning and risk documentation
✔️ Create individualised, practical, and needs-led plans
✔️ Apply a trauma-informed, relational approach to risk and care
✔️ Ensure regulatory compliance while enhancing the quality of practice
✔️ Use documentation to support staff, guide interventions, and evidence progress

Course Highlights

🔹 The Principles of Effective Planning – Moving beyond templates and tick boxes
🔹 Writing Meaningful Risk Assessments – Identifying risks, strategies, and protective factors
🔹 Care & Support Plans That Work – Turning assessment into action
🔹 Dynamic Documents – Reviewing and updating in response to change
🔹 Inspection & Oversight – What good practice looks like to regulators
