Event description

Description

You are invited to join the artist/academic collective SSEA in an workshop of collaborative making, hosted at Wild’s Rents, Southwark. The workshop will be loosely structured around group writing, making, vocalizing, movement, and meditation, and will involve elements of improvised ritual. Both artists and non-artists are welcome.

SSEA is an independent research and education organisation based in London and Cambridge. SSEA brings together practitioners in experimental art, science and technology studies, and religion and spirituality, and explores the interconnections between these three areas. SSEA continues the work of the project ‘Elements of Religion’/UA (2013–16), which developed a working process for participatory ritual-performances.

In this workshop, we open up the group’s working processes to others. The day will be facilitated by five SSEA members who, together with those in attendance, will work towards developing an approach for engaging with questions of ritual, the sacred, and the relationship between creative practice and collective experience.

This event will be limited to 15 available tickets, to allow for a degree of intimacy and openness. It will take place over two days with a meal on the evening of the 13th June to allow for introductions and preparations for the following day's work shop which will run from 10am to 5pm. Both meal and workshop are hosted at Wild's Rents Project Space although I'm afraid we are unable to provide over night accomodation.
