This event is available throughout the day, bookable in hourly slots from 10.30am until 3.30pm.

Join BFER and wildlife enthusiast Jon Tyler for an activity adventure discovering river wildlife on Thetford's jetty. Uncover the marvellous miniature world of river invertebrates through river dipping, take part in nature themed games and crafts, and find out more about what makes rivers so special.

Finding out what lives below the surface of a river or stream is a really fun activity for all the family. It is also a fantastic way to learn about the biodiversity and health of our waterways! During the Discovery Day, you will look at creatures up close in a special raised river dipping water tank. While you might come across some small fish, what we are really looking for are invertebrates! These are amazing creatures without a backbone. There are thousands of them living in rivers and they have amazing life cycles. You will be able to see them up close, and use fun fact sheets to be a river detective to identify them.

There will also be crafts and games to enjoy like creating your own river critter, the water-snail slither-slide and feeding the dragon!
