RIVER SONG - A Twilight Art Event
Join Katharine Beaugié for an artistic journey along the River Dour, in celebration of the beauty of the chalk stream and the swans that glide along it. The event will include a group walk, a gallery exhibition featuring new photographic artwork and Music and Light Symbiosis - Piece no. 2; a water and light installation combined with a short classical music concert; followed by a guided night walk back to the start.
Meet at the bridge over the main lakes in Kearsney Abbey at 5.30pm, to be led by a 'swan' down the River Dour to River Garage Studios and back for approx. 7.30pm.
Katharine Beaugié is one of 10 artists-in-residence taking part in the Art in the Park - Kearsney interpretedproject. This is an Arts Council funded project led by Dover District Council and delivered in partnership with Dover Arts Development (DAD). A key aim of the project is to bring new audiences to the parks using arts and culture to engage people with the landscape designs, ecology, social and industrial heritage of the parks.
The event is free but please book early to avoid disappontment as places are limited.
It may be cold or wet please wear appropriate clothing and shoes.
Please be aware that the walk crosses roads and, due to the nature of the event, unaccompanied children will not be allowed to take part.
Please note the event will involve a walk back through the park in the dark. There is no lighting in the park and some paths may be muddy and uneven. Please ensure that you bring a torch with you. We will be walking back together to the car park after the studio event and we strongly advise that you wait to walk back as part of the group.
The park and River Garage Studios in River Street are surrounded by houses so please respect the neighbours as we walk back and leave quietly!
Parking : You will need to park in the western car park at Kearsney Abbey (the one opposite Russell Gardens) as the car park by the café is now closed. The western car park is off the Alkham Road. It is the second entrance to the park on left as you leave Dover along the Alkham Road, and the first entrance to the park on the right if you are driving from Folkestone. Car parking spaces will be limited, we would be appreciative if you could car share or consider public transport.
