FREE Half-Day Academic Writing Workshop on

EXAM PREPARATION and EXAM TECHNIQUES

Saturday 7th March 2019, 09.30-12.30, St Andrew’s Building, Room 224

Don’t waste time dreading your exams. Like most things, exams are a mix of preparation and techniques. What is the most productive preparation? What are the most effective techniques? In this half-day workshop, we’ll face exams head-on, exploring the best preparation for you in your subject(s) and practising techniques to use during the exam. After the workshop, you should be better able to:

• decide on the most effective exam preparation for you and your subject

• make a revision timetable

• look at the exam paper without fear

• plan exam essay timing you’ll use on exam day

If you’re worried about your exams, or wish you could have some exam practice, this free workshop is for you.

The session will be facilitated by Katie Grant, RLF Consultant Fellow, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, journalist, novelist and co-creator of the academic writing website at the University of Glasgow where she was the RLF Writing Fellow from 2011-2014. As the founder of the Royal Literary Fund Bridge*, she offers practical advice and valuable techniques to overcome the writing problems we all face when moving to university, college or the workplace. Katie herself is a graduate of the University of Glasgow Access Course, and subsequently of the University of Glasgow. The access course changed her life.
