Research libraries have been transformed from places where users can access and find information, to spaces where creativity, experimentation, and innovation thrive. Over the past years, labs, makerspaces, and multipurpose environments have started to emerge within libraries with the purpose of facilitating student and public engagement as well as fostering learning and knowledge production. During this meeting, speakers from across the RLUK membership and beyond will reflect on their experiences of developing and running their institutional labs, makerspaces, and other creativity hubs. In the afternoon, there will be a chance for discussion and hands-on work around building creative spaces for learning and scholarship in the digital age as well as the possibilities and challenges such initiatives entail.

This meeting is part of RLUK's Space Programme, a series of events and resources to explore and support its members around spatial redesign and capital-build projects. The programme provides a forum through which colleagues can share their knowledge and experience in a collegiate and supportive environment.
