Event description

Description

*This event is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students from any institution and any background, medical or non-medical*

The Royal Medical Society of Edinburgh is excited to announce that this year our conference will be exploring the topic of mental health.

Mental health issues affect us all, directly and indirectly, and yet do not receive sufficient attention in the medical community. For this reason, we believe that it is an incredibly important and interesting topic for our 8th National Student Conference.

This event will include both medical and non-medical accounts from speakers, a choice of interactive workshops and a showcase of high-quality student research. We hope to allow both medical and non-medical students from across the UK to come together and tackle this difficult topic. We are working hard to involve relevant organisations and charities in the event, allowing them to share their expertise and ideas.

The event will once again be held in the historic Old Medical School, University of Edinburgh, less than 15 minutes walk from the city centre, Waverley Station and the airport bus stop.

Abstracts will be marked by leading experts from a range of medical specialities. The top abstracts will be selected for oral and poster presentation, whilst runners up will be selected for poster presentation. All successful abstracts will be published in Res Medica, the peer reviewed journal of the Royal Medical Society: http://journals.ed.ac.uk/resmedica

This year we will have two presentation sessions:

1. Entries from the field of psychiatry, mental health and associated fields
2. Entries from any medical, biomedical or healthcare-related field
