What do I need to bring with me?

All runners must check in on the day, when run numbers will be issued. Please bring a copy of your confirmation email as proof of ID. As well as your own water bottle; appropriate clothing and any fancy dress you wish!

What time do I need to arrive?

Each distance has a different check in and start time, so please refer to the timings listed on this page for check your specific run.  Check in for each run will close 15 mins before the start time to enable the safety briefing and warm to take place.

What is the terrain of the run?

The 5km run is up and down a Mendip hill. At one point it crosses a back road where marshals will control any traffic to ensure everyone crosses safely. The 2.5km saunter is away from the road on flat terrain and maybe a bit muddy (Last year the kids loved the mud!)

Are runs open to all ages?

Accepted Answer

5km participants must be at least 11 years old and 11-14 year olds must be accompanied by an adult. All ages are welcome for the 2.5km Santa Saunta but anyone below 15 years of age must be accompanied by an adult and those aged 15-17 must receive parental consent.

Can I run with my dog?

Accepted Answer

Yes - well behaved, non-reactive dogs on a fixed lead can accompany an owner. However, participants have to adhere to these safety measures: Start at the back to avoid collisions with others; throughout the run, consider other runners in your path /nearby and all dog mess to be cleared immediately

What should I wear to participate?

We recommend wearing layers and breathable fabrics for running, along with a change of warm, dry clothes for afterwards.

Are spectators welcome?

Spectators are very welcome, please ensure that they adhere to the guidance from marshals around the run routes.

Do I receive anything for finishing?

There will be medals for finishing participants!

Are refreshments available at the event?

Accepted Answer

Refreshments are available at the Sports Club where you can also refill your own water bottle. Water will also be available for participants to refill their own bottles around the half-way point of the 5km Reindeer run which is also the summit of the trail.

Are the runs accessible?

Accepted Answer

Neither the Santa Saunter or the Reindeer Run are accessible throughout. However, the courses make some use of “The Strawberry Line” which is accessible to wheelchair supporters.

What facilities will be available?

There are toilet facilities at the Winscombe Sports Club along with Snacks and Drinks.

Question 12

Is parking available at the event?

Accepted Answer

There is parking available at the Sports Club. However, we encourage participants to arrive early and use the car parks in Winscombe village next to and behind The Woodborough Inn. Alternatively park legally in local streets.

Is the run suitable for a buggy or stroller?

Unfortunate not.

Can I sign up to participate on the day of the event?

Accepted Answer

All runners must have registered online before the event, unfortunately we cannot accept entries on the day.
